Here are some quick tips on how to boost your SEO career:
- Get certified: So what if you’ll spend some dollar to get certified? If you know it will give you an income eventually, then go for it! Enhance your skills and put it in your resume!
- Learn some skills: Assume variety of roles will be outsourced. It is always helpful to know a bit of html, javascript and css.
- Love the Excel: Excel will be a part of your SEO daily activities. You cannot go far in SEO field unless you know how make an organized Database and make a good work report.
- Expand your knowledge: Attend some seminars that will give you information about the SEO field.
- Social networking: Have a bunch of friends who are into similar field. Sharing information might be a great help. Share what you know, and know what you don’t know with the help of your friends.
- Research and Read: Spend time updating yourself with the current trends. SEO is a transitional field, there are changes happening every day, you can never do well if you don’t know what is happening out there.

That’s good advice John Paul, I would add keep an eye on our seo competitors, especially if you are going to be a freelance seo consultant. Plus it’s a good way to keep track of their clients as you never know, they might not be happy with their existing service provider…. Also explore potential partnerships with web design agencies, web developers, pr consultants, marketing/advertising agencies etc…
